What to Expect During a Wellness Exam
When you bring an animal to us for a wellness exam, we will typically start by checking their temperature and weighing them. From there, we will conduct a thorough physical exam and carefully inspect your pet or hobby farm animal from head to toe (or hoof!). We’ll look in their eyes, ears, and mouth, listen to their heart and lungs, and palpate their abdomen. We do these things to look and feel for signs of trouble and to assess the animal’s overall condition. During the exam, the vet may ask questions regarding your animal’s vaccine status, whether they are spayed or neutered, what their living arrangements are like, what/how often you feed them, etc. It’s also a great time for you to bring up any concerns or questions you might have regarding your pet or farm animal’s health or care.
